During worship, it can be so easy to go into autopilot mode and not really process what you are singing. I know I have been guilty of that unfortunately and it breaks my heart that I would be so flippant with worship to the Lord. For example, in the song "The Stand" by Hillsong United, here is the chorus:
So I’ll stand
With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all
So I’ll stand
My soul Lord to You surrendered
All I am is Yours
You are standing praising the Lord with all that you have. Your arms are raised and your heart fully abandoned for the God of the universe and Creator of all. Do you ever just stand in awe of what Christ did for you on Calvary? The next set of lines, "My soul Lord to You surrendered. All I am is Yours." Your soul is the deepest intermost part of You and the part You give to God when You become a Christ follower. However, this is saying, give it all and surrender it to God for what he has. Does Christ have every aspect of you or are you clinging to something? I know for me when I really do start to process what I am singing and start to comprehend it that it takes me to a deeper state of worship where I truly am worshiping the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and not just going through the motions. I can remember distinctly a few times where I have had some "ah-ha" moments occur.
