Psalm 139

So in church, Pastor Rob gave us a challenge to memorize a chapter of Scripture during the Lenten season and I was like sounds good but had to think which chapter kinda stuck out to me. The more and more I thought about it, the more I was brought to Psalms 139. It is such a great chapter about how much God knows me and loves me in spite of me.
1 O Lord you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I am far away. 3 You see me when I travel or rest at home. You know everything about me. 4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it. 5 You go before me and follow me. Your hand of blessing is upon my head. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful, too great for me to comprehend.
So here are some of my thoughts and observations from just those 6 verses.
1) What does my heart examination show?
2) God really wants me to know that he knows everything about me (said it twice in a 3 verse span, 1 & 3). Usually, when things are repeated in the Bible, it means it is important.
3) God knows my thoughts even when I am far away. However, it never says he is far away.
4) God goes before me (like someone clearing a path) and he follows me (like a companion/friend on a journey). So basically he gives me a hedge of protection all around me.
5) Like David, when I think about just these 6 verses, it blows my mind that God knows all of this about me and more. And not just that he knows all of this but even when I screw up, he still draws me to himself.
